Bozeman and Georgetown Lake Montana,

2nd August - 6th September 2023

Back in Bozeman it was time for the annual Sweetpea festival of the Arts. As usual, the festival opened with a performance by Shakespeare in the Parks, the theatre company based in Bozeman who spent each summer touring the state to bring theatre to those in more remote locations.

The play was, as usual, excellent, until the thunderstorm hit. The actors bravely battled on in pouring rain until it became ridiculous. We decided against sitting in the pouring rain to see if the performance would resume and took ourselves back to our temporary home in Charlie and Heidi's yard, where they had kindly allowed us to camp.

Very conveniently located campsite.

Should we get this done to Harvey?

We returned to enjoy the festival's performances and art market the following day but instead of waiting for the final performance of Shakespeare on the Sunday, when the weather forecast was stormy again, we left early to head back to Georgetown Lake for more fishing and cycling.

Christine's birthday came with the now traditional trip to the mineral and ice cream shops of Philipsburg once our morning bike ride was over.

Fishing wasn't very rewarding but we planned to stay in Georgetown Lake until after the sad duty of attending the funeral of our friend Gary, of the Rainbow Sports Fishing Shop in Anaconda.

The service was in the Catholic Church in Anaconda and included military honours in recognition of Gary's service for his country.

Unfortunately, during the service, we managed to contract Covid. Phil tested positive first but the chances of Christine escaping the virus when living in a 22 foot camper together were slight.

The last two weeks of our Montana trip were spent resting and recovering at Georgetown Lake. At first, even walking to the outhouse was a challenge, but as the days went by we slowly began to recover, finally testing negative shortly before our flight home, meaning we could at least enjoy dinner with Charlie and Heidi before we left.
